Episode 2 is "In the Can!"
We shot Episode 2 of the All New Hey Don't Shoot yesterday, on location at the Seoul Zoo, Seoul Grand Park. We did a CAMERA SHOOT OUT AND COMPARISON. Each crew member swapped cameras with another crew member and had to shoot the entire day with someone else's camera.
Felix shot with Turner's Nikon D610, likewise, Turner shot with Felix' Sony A65. Meanwhile, Lorraine shot with Micah's Sony A35 and Micah shot with Lorraine's Canon T3i.
Tune in later this week when Episode 2 goes live, see the results and hear our comments and reviews.

Zed Gets a New Camera
Our awesome Go Pro cameraman, Zed got a new camera today. The Sony DSC-H300B point and shoot. It boasts 20 mp and shoots HD video at 30fps. Zed definitely needed a camera for his duties as Assistant Public Affairs Representative for our army unit and it will also give him something to shoot with on our HeyDontShoot.com outings as an alternative to his Go Pros which he usually has chest and head mounted.
Look for a review of the Sony DSC-H300B coming soon!

Episode 1 is "In the Can!"
Preliminary shooting of The All New - Hey Don't Shoot has wrapped. There are many, many hours of Behind the Scenes, B roll, out takes and images to go through. And, unfortunately, a few pieces of my monologue have to be reshot because the audio was blown out. That's what you get for wanting to use the brand new video camera and wireless microphones without testing them out thoroughly before shooting.
My new Sony NEX-VG10 arrived in the mail literally minutes before we were getting in the cab to go shoot. The excitement of the new toy overwhelmed all of us and while I did take a moment to test the new camera out with one of my wireless mics, I didn't test it with all of them and we paid the price. No big deal.
It will take us about two weeks to get the final edit wrapped up and posted so stay tuned!

No More Monkey Business - Saturday We Shoot!
Here we see Turner Hunt learning first hand the difficulties of working with Felix Mena.
"If I would have known it was going to be like this, I never would have agreed to be the cameraman and co-host for Hey Don't Shoot" said Hunt.
The team is in place, the script is written, locations have been scouted, Episode 1 shoots this Saturday!

Wireless Microphones for the All-New "Hey Don't Shoot"
Capturing audio is the most challenging aspect of shooting video. With the fast-approaching revival of www.HeyDontShoot.com I went ahead and added some wireless microphones to my inventory, as well as an omni-directional squid microphone for high-quality audio recording (the scquid mic can be plugged into any of the wireless microphone systems mentioned in this blog post).
The Sony ADP-AMA adapter fits on top of my Sony A65s and A37 (auto-lock interface shoe) and allows the use of the Sony ECM-W1M (multi-interface shoe) wireless microphone. I also purchased the Sony ECM-HW2 wireless microphone which is compatible with my Sony HDR-UX10 Handycam. Then to round out my wireless microphone capabilities, I purchased the Sony WCS-999 wireless microphone which is compatible with any video camera or DSLR with a 3.5 inch audio in jack.
The final bill for all of the above mentioned items was around $400-450 USD. However, without wireless lavalier or squid type microphones, the only other option would be to record audio with camera mounted or internal microphones, of course, the problem with that is that in addition to recording the person speaking in the video, you'll also be recording all the ambient sound and that will simply not work for the type of videos we will be producing. Camera mounted microphones are great if you WANT to record all the ambient sound, such as at a party, but not if you want to record someone speaking at a distance from the camera.

Hey Don't Shoot Episode 3 - The Last Hurrah
See, what had happened was...
Chemistry is a rare commodity. All relationships are based on chemistry, however, some chemicals, when combined with other chemicals, become volatile. Mena Man, Garvertron, Big C and Frenchy had a certain chemistry and it was volatile. That volatility made for great theater but at what expense? It's a rather difficult task to separate the up and down emotions that are exposed on the show from our time away from the show, alas, it was too difficult. One too many blow ups and that volatile chemistry explodes like a Victorville, CA. meth lab. And that's what happened during the taping of Episode 3 of Hey Don't Shoot. As a result we opted to hang up our headphones and call it a day.
A big thank you to me co-host, Garvertron, who, at the end of the day is a good guy and a great friend that can always be counted on. Thank you Big C for working the cameras and to Frenchy for being so funny.
I hope you enjoy Episode 3, thanks for watching and perhaps, with the right chemical mixture Hey Don't Shoot will be resurrected from the grave.
